Trip to Munich!

We had a free day today, so my roommate and I took the train to Munich for the day (2 hour train ride), well the train ride itself was "fun".  First we had these British people join us in the cabin, they were great!  They were on holiday, it was really cute to hear them make remarks to each other.  Then they got off and this couple came and sat in the cabin with us, speaking German of course that proceed to HARDCORE MAKE OUT.  I'm talking like something that should be in an adult film.  It was gross. They would stop and sit back and we thought they were done..OH NO!  We finally had to change cabins. Then they stared at us when we got off at the same stop as they did.  Oh and by the way they spoke English too.  Not Cool. So then we got lost for FOUR HOURS.  That was fun...also not cool.  We finally met up with an old professor from Miami and he took us on a tour of Munich, parts that we never would have seen otherwise! It was awesome!  We saw all kinds of churches and even where Hitler gave his infamous speech!  (no worries pictures to follow).  So far my picture count for this trip is 562.  We have been here 6 days.  I think I have a picture problem.  But the people hear make taking pictures WORTH it!  Today I saw a man with blue and white striped shorts on, shorter than any man should wear, it was great and yes I got a picture of it!  We went to the Beer Garden in Munich, VERY popular and VERY GOOD food!  YUM!

Tomorrow we are going to the ski jump here in Innsbruck, great pictures to follow that as well!

Conference Days...

Yesterday we spent the day at the Passivhaus conference and then went to the dinner for the conference. I sat with many people that spoke english as a  partial second language. made for a very interesting night. They made us eat brusselsprouts! not my favorite...  They also took us on a tour of the tower of a castle! Lots of spiral stair cases. We didnt get back to the hotel until midnight and had to be up by 6am to go to the second day of the conference1 Needless to say I'm pooped! So today is another day of listening to german being trannslated into technical english!  Then early bedtime!

WE MADE IT!....and our first day adventures!

After cancelled flights, many a "ground-stops", retrying again on Tuesday to leave, delays, missed trains, full out sprints down concourses, and 3 days of travelling we finally made it...without luggage!  If it was to go wrong, it did.  But made for great stories and made getting to the hotel much more satisfying.   We finally got in and went to dinner,  got to do laundry in the sink then after being awake for roughly 30 straight hours went to bed (picture of our hotel room included...such small cute little beds haha!)

Today was a new day even though when I got up I felt like I had been hit by a truck.  We got up and had breakfast (their eggs are much different here by the way, and they read their newspapers on sticks!!) we decided to take a train halfway up the Alps and hike back down.  We saw "rainbow bright"-actually it was just a german that had dyed her hair every color of the rainbow and it was funny so I slyly took a picture of it...I couldn't help myself.  The view from the Alps was amazing!  Hiking was very painful, but still fun.  Then we had lunch and walked around.  We were walking and my friend Lindsay unknowingly kicked a dead mouse on the sidewalk, which I only saw because she kicked it....so I screamed!  That caught peoples attention haha!  Good times. Then of course we had dinner and ended the night with Gelato! YUM!

False Alarm...

Just kidding!  Due to Ground-stops in New York-JFK and a tornado warning in Cleveland, we'll try this again tomorrow!  Making it a 3 day trip instead of an overnight! So now we should get in on Wednesday morning!  Now if they can just find our luggage and some say is on its way to frankfurt, and others say is still sitting on the plane on the tar-mack! At least i'm not alone in trying to find new flights and new train times and tickets.  It was a nice dry run at the airport! The Great Adventure has BEGUN!

3 days and counting...

Had to "rent" a different phone to take with me on my trip because of course they work on a slightly different system over there.  I have been sent back to 1999...I am sad. This global flip phone is practically the same size as my real phone when it is folded (now imagine it unfolded).  Shocking how much I have become dependent on my smart phone to do everything but practically think for me! I apologize right now for any texts that come through all garbled, its been a while since I used T9.  But the phone is pre-set with exotic ringtones and wallpapers from many different countries! Good times!

Welcome!

I thought this would be a much easier way to share my stories and excursion details with everyone throughout my trip!  I've never really done this, so you'll have to bear with me on any technical difficulties and so on.  I leave on Monday, May 23rd for Frankfort Germany, we will arrive there on the 24th.  We then travel by train to Innsbruck, Austria!  We will stay there for 8 days before we fly to Malta, which is a small island off the coast of Italy, where we stay for the remainder of the trip! Lots of pictures and stories to follow!
